Is respect really earned
A position may be earned.I will admit, ephesians 5:33 is not a passage many of us women jump for joy when reading.Conversely, i think respect in respect is earned, bot given refers to admiration, in the sense that while you should be polite, there's absolutely no reason to look up to them unless they do something that you think is worthy of it.Respect and trust must be earned, not demanded.I don't admire anyone without good reason unless they have proved themselves.
Obviously, that is not universal, but it is common enough to be worth noting.Respect is something that should be given and received by all.The truly powerful person subjugates themselves to those. Now, first, i exclude all parents who are not fit to be parents from this conversation. The implication here seems to be that our default setting with everyone we meet is not respecting them.
No brands don't deserve respect automatically, they must earn it, and so on and on.People who adhere to this saying recognize that not everyone is born equal and they aren't obliged to love or respect anyone just because they exist. And when you have the act of respect as a transaction, then the attitudes of commerce and entitlement follow.Basic human decency type respect.People who are respected tend to behave in a manner worthy of how they are being treated.
I am owed respect. you don't give me the respect i deserve. i gave you respect, now you have to respect me in return.
